• AAA Birthday game #4

    Hello and welcome!

Today we are starting a new challenge over on the AAA Birthday challenge blog. It's the blog's 4th challenge and since we celebrated girls last month, the theme for game #4 is "For the boys" and you can find it here: Game #4 For the boys

So today i am sharing this cool interactive dinosaur card with you!
Grab a large cuppa, 'cause this has lots of details!

To create the background I made a couple of stencils from Post-It's. I find this the easiest and if the stick isn't enough I add Tombow Mono Multi glue and let it dry until it's sticky.
First I used the large My favorite things Grassy egdes die. I meassured out where the slider panel should be, and then placed the top of the cut paper to mask off the top of the panel. I used Twisted citron and Moved lawn Distress inks for the grass.
I also cut a piece of cardstock with the smaller grass die and colored it with the same inks. Keep in mind - this piece must be tall enough to hide your slider parts.

I then placed the bottom part of the "stencil" over the grass. On a different piece of paper I used a pencil to draw lines for the mountains. I cut along the line, again keeping both stencils. First I masked off the sky part and used Hero Arts Soft granite and Chalkboard to color the mountains. I added a tiny bit of Squeezed lemonade to the top of the mountains near the meatingpoint, because I was going for a sunrise-feel. When dry I used a couple of grey Copic markers to indicate dimension and vegetation on the mountains.
I then placed the other part of the mountain "stencil" over the mountains and ink blended Tumbled glass, Salty ocean and Chipped sapphire Distress inks for the sky. Where the mountains meat I added Wild honey Distress ink to indicate the rising sun. I then used the MFT Ray of light stencil with Squeezed lemonade Oxide ink and Hero Arts Unicorn pigment ink to add rays of sunlight.

I then die cut the Simon says stamp Picture book dino twice. I placed one set inside a piece of paper and ran it through my die cutting machine reverse side up and covered with my metal shim. I did this to make it more flat, since I am using the back side. I then colored them with my Copics and added a little clear Spectrum noir to the "scales" on the back, Sakura Gelly roll white highlights and black nuvo drops for eyes.

To create the double slider feature I followed the instructions in this video using the MFT Slider loop slots with a strip of a plastic bag and MFT Gift card grooves with 2 strips of acetate.
The grass panel was cut to size and before attaching it to the card I stamped a Danish birthday greeting ('Congrats on your big day') from Simple and Basic. The pull tab is simply a strip of white cardstock stamped with the Danish word for pull also using a Simple and Basic stamp.

After checking that the slider works I added the 2 dinosaurs to the acetate strips with 2 layers of form squares to insure they move freely over the grass. I then used MFT Little letters and cut 3 layers from brown cardstock and one from white. The white letters are ink blended with Squeezed lemonade, Spiced marmelade and Vintage photo Distress inks. I added a little sparkle with my clear Wink of stella and added Morning dew Nuvo drops in a thick layer for dimension. I attached the letters off set for a "cooler" look.

    Copics used:
    B39, B29, B24, BG07, BG05, BG01, BG00
    G29, G17, G05, YG67 YG17, YG06, YG03, YG01
    C7, C5, C3, C1

I hope I've inspired you! Now its your turn to join in the fun, I can't wait to see what you create!
Please check out the amazing inspiration from the rest of the design team as well as our guest designer.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy crafting!
